Cherish offers a bespoke holiday experience for people living with Dementia and those who care for them.

Now in our 19th year Cherish has a clear understanding of our member’s requirements. Our friendly local service and home visits identify any concerns and specific individual needs.

 

We provide an outstanding and memorable holiday experience that is risk assessed and enhanced with all the safeguards required to support holiday makers with dementia.The planned daily itinerary ensures, total respite for carers from daily chores; ‘down- time’ with partners; We provide a coach with lift for people with physical disabilities; mental stimulation; healthy food; good company; happy memories ; supportive community.

 

Cherish try to run several holidays each year. They are for 4 nights and 5 days and are reasonably priced. Accommodation is in hotels largely 3* rated and the coach which is at our disposal throughout the week is fitted with toilet facilities and has disabled access.

 

The itinerary is varied including visits to places of interest in the area, boat trips, railway journeys and evening entertainment. Recent locations include Dawlish Warren, Bournemouth and Chester. See below

 

Cherish have been able to subsidise the holidays in as much as the charity will fund excursions and some lunches.

Thanks to Sally for organising it all and also to our willing band of helpers.  Also to our Birmingham International bus driver, Ian, who was really supportive and pleasant towards everyone which added to the success of the holiday.
